Method
- Begin by preheating a griddle or non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat (180°C-200°C).
- Season the beef burgers with salt and pepper to taste on both sides.
- Place the burgers on the hot griddle and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium, or adjust according to your preference. In the last 2 minutes of cooking on each side, place the Flamengo cheese on each burger so it melts slightly.
- While the burgers are cooking, prepare the accompaniments: wash the lettuce well and slice the tomato.
- Optionally, you can lightly toast the artisan bread or bolo do caco on the same griddle (or in a toaster) for 1-2 minutes, so they are crisp on the outside and soft inside.
- Begin assembling the burgers: place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of the bread, followed by slices of tomato.
- Place the burger with the melted cheese on top of the vegetables.
- Cover with the other half of the bread and serve immediately.
Shopping tip
In Continente or Pingo Doce, look for fresh beef burgers with a high meat content and bolo do caco in the bakery section. For lettuce and tomato, Lidl or Auchan usually have good fresh options at competitive prices.
