Method

  1. Remove the pork chops from the fridge 15 minutes before cooking to allow them to reach room temperature.
  2. Season the chops with salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste, on both sides.
  3. Heat a grill or griddle over medium-high heat for about 5-7 minutes, until very hot.
  4. Place the chops on the hot grill. Grill for 4-5 minutes on each side for chops about 1.5-2 cm thick, for medium. For thinner or thicker chops, adjust the grilling time.
  5. While the chops are grilling, prepare the rice according to the packet instructions, usually cooking in boiling water for 10-12 minutes.
  6. Wash and prepare the salad to your liking, with tomato, cucumber or other vegetables.
  7. After grilling, remove the chops from the grill and place them on a plate. Cover with aluminium foil and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. This helps to retain the meat juices.
  8. Serve the grilled chops immediately, accompanied by the rice and the fresh salad.

Shopping tip

For good-quality pork chops at competitive prices, check the fresh pork promotions in the weekly flyers of Continente or Pingo Doce. Lidl generally has good value options for rice and salad.
