Method
- Start by preparing the rice. Put a pan with 600ml of water and a pinch of salt on the heat. Once it boils, add the rice and let it cook over low heat for approximately 10-12 minutes, or until the water is absorbed. Remove from the heat and set aside.
- While the rice is cooking, wash the lettuce, tomato and cucumber well under running water.
- Cut the tomato into slices and the cucumber into half-moons or slices, according to your preference. Tear the lettuce into smaller pieces. Store all the vegetables in the fridge.
- Heat a griddle or grill well over medium-high heat (approximately 200°C).
- Season the burgers with salt and pepper to taste on both sides.
- Place the burgers on the hot griddle and grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. If you prefer more well done, increase the grilling time.
- Remove the burgers from the griddle and let them rest for 2 minutes before serving, so the juices redistribute.
- Serve the burgers accompanied by the rice and the lettuce, tomato and cucumber salad. The main person can enjoy two burgers.
Shopping tip
For good-quality 100% beef burgers at a good price, look for the weekly promotions at the butcher counters of Continente or Pingo Doce. Lidl often has beef of good provenance at competitive prices.
